Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp Roster Prediction
As we approach the halfway point of Philadelphia Eagles training camp, it’s time to take a closer look at the current 53-man roster projection. We’ve had the chance to observe five practices so far, which has led to some changes from our initial roster prediction. Here’s an updated breakdown of the team by position:
OFFENSE
QB: Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett, Tanner McKee (3) [3]
Hurts has shown promise in camp and is likely to secure a spot on the team. Pickett remains the favorite for the backup QB position, but McKee’s recent second-team reps add an interesting dynamic. Will Grier is falling behind.
RB: Saquon Barkley, Kenny Gainwell, Will Shipley (3) [6]
Barkley will lead the backfield, but his workload might decrease with Gainwell and Shipley also getting touches. The Eagles have depth at this position.
WR: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Parris Campbell, John Ross, Britain Covey, Johnny Wilson (6) [12]
Brown and Smith shine, while the battle for WR3 continues. Ross is solid but not a lock to make the team. Covey looks reliable in the slot. Wilson’s first-team work indicates a potential role player.
TE: Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, C.J. Uzomah (3) [15]
Goedert and Calcaterra stand out, while Uzomah’s efficiency is questionable. The Eagles might keep four tight ends for depth.
OL: Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Mekhi Becton, Matt Hennessy, Fred Johnson, Trevor Keegan, Dylan McMahon (10) [25]
The starting offensive line is mostly set, with questions at right guard. Becton could provide valuable depth across the line. Keegan and McMahon offer future potential.
DEFENSE
EDGE: Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Brandon Graham, Jalyx Hunt (5) [30]
Huff needs to step up, while Sweat changes jersey numbers for no reason. Smith shows promise, and Graham is a veteran presence. Hunt might see playing time.
DT: Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Milton Williams, Marlon Tuipulotu, Moro Ojomo (5) [35]
Carter and Davis lead the interior line. Williams is in a contract year, while Tuipulotu provides depth. The Eagles lack depth beyond the top three DTs.
LB: Devin White, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, Ben VanSumeren, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (5) [40]
White looks like the top linebacker, with Baun and Dean in supporting roles. VanSumeren contributes on special teams, while Trotter Jr. fights for playing time.
CB: Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, Avonte Maddox, Kelee Ringo, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Josh Jobe (7) [47]
Slay and Rodgers lead the cornerback group. Maddox could see time in the slot or at safety. Mitchell is pushing for a starting role. DeJean’s rookie season might be delayed.
S: Reed Blankenship, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Sydney Brown (3) [50]
Blankenship and CJGJ are reliable safeties, while Brown’s return from injury is pending. The Eagles are linked to Justin Simmons, but their current safeties are solid.
SPECIAL TEAMS
K: Jake Elliott (1) [51]
Elliott remains the Eagles’ kicker.
P: Braden Mann (1) [52]
Mann holds the punting duties.
LS: Rick Lovato (1) [53]
Lovato is the long snapper.
