The Dallas Cowboys’ 2023 season can only be seen as a failure.
Despite winning the NFC East with a 12-5 record and tying for the best record in the conference, the team suffered a disappointing blowout loss to the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs, as seven-point favorites. No one, including star quarterback Dak Prescott, performed up to their usual standard, leading to widespread criticism.
Criticism from within the team has also emerged, with owner Jerry Jones adding to the controversy with his remarks about Prescott’s contract situation.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones declined today to address Dak Prescott’s contract, or that of any other specific player. “Dak has done nothing to change my mind [about] any promise for the future. …We will go as far as Dak takes us. And that’s how far we went.” pic.twitter.com/gId6MlpMs0

“We go as far as Dak takes us. And that’s how far we went,” Jones said, a statement that reflects poorly on his support for Prescott. Not only has Prescott faced criticism from pundits and fans, but also from family members of his teammates. This lack of support from the owner could further alienate Prescott, who Jones may have been trying to send a message to regarding his contract negotiations. However, this public forum was not the appropriate time or place for such a message.
Cowboy fans why continue to DM me TRUST ME, if I could get @dak to leave Dallas I would. I too want him out of Dallas. The city and organization have been great to he and our family, but done with drama and the so called fans, but he loves this team, and wants to bring it rings

Despite not being a top-five quarterback, Prescott had a standout 2023 season and was a leading MVP candidate. His exceptional performance makes him indispensable to the Cowboys, and if the team is to succeed, he needs full support from the organization. Jones should bear this in mind before making any further comments about the quarterback the team relies so heavily on.
