Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles praised quarterback Baker Mayfield, saying that Mayfield has definitely earned a new contract. Mayfield expressed his desire to continue with the team’s offense, stating, “I love this group. I’ve said that all year and it’s authentic. It would mean a lot to me, to bring back a lot of key pieces, to get this back together, to get into Year Two in the system. I feel like we could make huge strides. I would love that. Obviously, we’ll see how it’s going to play out but I can’t say enough about this organization and the opportunity they gave me this year.”

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that there is mutual interest between the Buccaneers and Mayfield in a new deal, but the details are still being worked out. Rapoport noted that Mayfield is seeking “real deal QB money,” but the team also has the franchise tag at its disposal if necessary.

Following their playoff loss to the Lions, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles praised Baker Mayfield for taking over as quarterback after the retirement of Tom Brady. Bowles emphasized that Mayfield carved his own mark and mentioned that there remains a bright future for the team.

Saints general manager Mickey Loomis commented on the team’s outlook for making the playoffs next season, as well as addressing concerns about fans booing quarterback Derek Carr during some games. Loomis acknowledged that the team’s performance is the main factor and spoke about the need to meet and exceed expectations.

Loomis also discussed the team’s salary cap issues and the need to restructure contracts due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he addressed the team’s offensive line and the search for a new offensive coordinator after the departure of Pete Carmichael. Loomis stated that Carr will not have input on the hiring of the new offensive coordinator.
