The Eagles were able to overcome halftime deficits against the Chiefs and Bills in Weeks 11 and 12 but their slow start finally caught up to them in Week 13 when they were pounded by the 49ers 42-19 at Lincoln Financial Field. They will look to get back on the winning track on Sunday – and take control of the NFC East – when they travel to Arlington, Texas to meet the Cowboys in a showdown that’s sure to be heavily wagered upon in the Week 14 NFL picks. For all the gloom and doom that followed the Eagles’ loss to the 49ers, the Eagles still have the best record in football, are the No. 1 seed in the NFC and still control their own destiny. In fact, even if the Eagles lose to the Cowboys and are temporarily displaced at the top of the NFC East by Dallas, the Eagles will win the division if both teams win out.
The Cowboys currently have one more division win than the Eagles which would give them the lead if they win Sunday. But if each win their remaining games, that would give them identical records and the same number of division wins, and the Eagles would win by virtue of the third tie-breaker, common opponents, as the Cowboys loss in Week 3 to the Cardinals would be the deciding factor.
The Eagles beat the Cowboys 28-23 in Week 9. Jalen Hurts threw touchdown passes and ran for another and the Eagles defense stopped the Cowboys at the Philadelphia 5-yard line as time expired.
Dallas has won 14 straight games at AT&T Stadium. The Eagles’ last road win in the series came in 2017.
