The New Orleans Saints have once again restructured Taysom Hill’s contract to create cap space for the 2024 season. Approximately $9MM of Hill’s base salary was converted into a signing bonus, resulting in $6.59MM of cap room. Hill is signed through 2025 with $9.7MM of void year charges if not extended before 2026.
This marks the third reworking of Hill’s contract in as many years, increasing his likelihood of staying with the team or securing a new deal. Releasing him as a non-June 1 cut in the future would result in $17.7MM of dead money for the Saints.
The Saints are expected to keep Hill given his versatility on the field, where he had impressive stats in 2023. With new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, Hill’s role could expand even further, possibly including more running back and fullback duties.
Hill, now 34, is embracing the new opportunities that come his way, showing enthusiasm for the challenges ahead. The Saints have ample cap space after restructuring Hill’s contract and signing their entire 2024 draft class, though a dispute with Alvin Kamara needs resolution.
