Ryan Stonehouse set a new NFL record as a rookie and continued to excel in his second season with the Titans, but unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injuries. Stonehouse is currently in recovery.
A game where the Colts blocked two punts led to the firing of the Titans’ special teams coordinator, and one of those blocks resulted in Stonehouse’s injuries. He suffered ACL and MCL tears, along with a broken bone in his left leg, as a result of the block. The timeline for his return is uncertain.
“Too early to tell,” said Titans HC Brian Callahan about Stonehouse’s recovery process. Stonehouse had a standout rookie season, setting a new punting average record previously held by Sammy Baugh. Despite the setbacks, Stonehouse aims to return for Week 1 of the upcoming season.
The Titans have added Ty Zentner to their roster as a temporary replacement for Stonehouse. Zentner, who filled in for the Texans last season, will continue to punt for the Titans until Stonehouse is fully recovered.
