The Steelers have chosen to bring in an outside offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, while keeping both interim coaches from last season – Eddie Faulkner and Mike Sullivan – on board. Sullivan, who received interest for an OC position elsewhere, will now serve as a senior offensive assistant for the Steelers, while Faulkner continues in his role as the team’s RB coach. It is expected that Smith will involve both coaches in his game plans, as opposed to former OC Matt Canada who was known to not be collaborative with his staff, leading to his mid-season dismissal.
Here are updates from AFC coaching staffs and front offices:
- David Shaw, a former candidate for the Broncos head coach position in 2023, will now be working remotely for the team under Sean Payton and George Paton. Shaw, who had interviews with the Chargers and Titans for HC positions, expressed interest in working in NFL personnel to Paton, leading to his new role with the Broncos.
- Ty Murphy has been promoted from scouting intern to pro scout for the Broncos, as reported by InsidetheLeague.com’s Neil Stratton.
- The Chargers have parted ways with their analytics director, Aditya Krishnan, as they begin a new era under head coach Jim Harbaugh. It is unclear how the team will approach analytics moving forward.
- Longtime Jaguars area scout, Brian Squeglia, is leaving the team after six years. He currently has no plans to join another team.
- The Titans have recently hired Erin Psajdl Davis and Alex Rogers as analysts. Psajdl Davis comes from the Chiefs and has previous football experience in Houston, while Rogers previously interned with the Saints.
