The Philadelphia Eagles are a popular pick in mock drafts for selecting a cornerback, but this week we’re going to explore the bold mock drafts that are opting not to give the Eagles a CB. Various experts have suggested alternate picks for the Eagles, including EDGE Jared Verse from Florida State, center Jackson Powers-Johnson from Oregon, wide receiver Keon Coleman from FSU, right tackle Taliese Fuaga from Oregon State, and defensive tackle Jer’Zhan Newton from Illinois.

Jared Verse is a popular pick for the Eagles as they are almost always interested in premium positions in the first round. With Haason Reddick possibly being a trade candidate and an open spot across from Josh Sweat, the team may consider selecting Verse to fill that need. According to Ben Solak of The Ringer, Verse, who has a different style than Nolan Smith, could provide the Eagles with different roles for their young rushers.

Notably, Jared Verse is originally from Bloomsburg, PA and went to high school in the area, making him a local prospect of interest for the Eagles. Josh Edwards of CBS notes that the Eagles are known for making surprising picks in the draft, and Verse could be that player this year.

However, there are other potential picks for the Eagles in the first round. Joel Klatt of Fox Sports believes that the team needs to find an heir apparent to Jason Kelce, and Jackson Powers-Johnson from Oregon, who played center in college, could be a versatile addition to the offensive line.

Similarly, Ryan Wilson of CBS suggests that the Eagles have a need for depth at wide receiver and considers Keon Coleman from FSU a potential option for the team, citing Coleman’s impressive size and game-changing abilities.

Garrett Podell, also from CBS, highlights Taliese Fuaga from Oregon State as a prospect who could be a long-term replacement for Lane Johnson at right tackle. Fuaga’s size and versatility make him an intriguing option for the Eagles’ offensive line.

On the defensive side, Matthew Jones of Fantasy Pros advocates for the selection of Jer’Zhan Newton from Illinois, pointing out that Fletcher Cox’s contract is set to expire and the team’s financial commitments in the secondary. Newton could provide the Eagles with a disruptive presence on the defensive line.

While these mock drafts offer different perspectives and potential picks for the Eagles in the first round, they also highlight the varying opinions on the team’s needs and priorities. Ultimately, the Eagles will have to consider all factors, including their current roster, long-term goals, and the overall talent available in the draft, before making their selection.
