The Philadelphia Eagles had a brutal end to their season with a difficult loss that was hard to swallow. As a writer commenting on this performance, I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has read and commented on the posts throughout the year. Your support has been immensely appreciated and I will continue to cover the team’s progress throughout the offseason.

As I write this article, I have no idea regarding the fate of Nick Sirianni and the Eagles coaching staff. Despite the uncertainty, I will not speculate, but rather focus on identifying the fundamental flaws in the team’s performance and recognizing any positive aspects that can be gleaned from this experience.

The Eagles offensive strategy reflected a lack of preparation and an inability to effectively combat the challenges posed by the opposing team. The disastrous performance from start to finish was apparent from the onset. The team’s approach to 3rd down situations underscored a number of deep-set issues with the offense. Notably, the decision to let a free rusher through to run four vertical routes was an indicator of the coaching staff’s poor planning and failure to address ongoing issues. This approach had been consistently ineffective throughout the season, with a lack of motion, stacks, or bunches to create opportunities for successful plays.

The Eagles’ fixation on creating explosive plays rather than focusing on consistent yardage accumulation demonstrated a flawed sense of arrogance. The coaching staff appeared to overestimate the team’s ability to triumph in challenging situations, overlooking the importance of strategic and sensible play execution.

The heavy reliance on talent had become a recurring theme, placing excessive pressure on the players to compensate for the shortcomings of the coaching staff’s game plan. This was evident in the lack of creativity and poor scheming that were consistently present during the game.

The inconsistent use of run-pass option (RPO) plays revealed a lack of commitment to this critical element within the Eagles’ offense. While the threat of the run game had potential impact, the team struggled to capitalize on this strategy effectively.

Furthermore, the pass game was marred by ill-conceived play designs, typified by the ineffectiveness of key players such as DeVonta Smith and Jalen Hurts. The coaches’ failure to create an environment that maximized the players’ potential led to a poor offensive performance.

The offensive scheme suffered from a significant lack of innovation, with little use of creative screen plays and an inability to exploit advantageous defensive matchups. The coaching staff’s failure to adapt effectively to the strategies employed by the opposing team severely impacted the offensive performance.

Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, came under undue criticism due to the coaching staff’s inability to provide him with a meaningful chance of success. His previously strong performance was mitigated by the lack of support from the offensive scheme.

Overall, the coaching staff’s lack of adjustment and inability to exploit the defensive setup worked significantly to the detriment of the Eagles’ offensive performance. Predictability and a failure to capitalize on favorable matchups were major shortcomings.

It is evident that the Eagles’ offseason preparations will need to focus on addressing key issues in the offensive scheme, including the implementation of more effective strategies such as exploiting RPO plays, utilizing 12 personnel more effectively, and working to improve overall offensive creativity and innovation.
