Although Bill Belichick will have various media responsibilities this season, his ultimate goal remains to return to head coaching in 2025. He has shown no interest in any other role besides being a head coach; it was reported in July that the 49ers and Rams had considered offering him positions on their coaching staff, but Belichick declined as he aims for a head coaching role.
After Raheem Morris departed the Rams to become the Falcons’ head coach, Los Angeles considered Belichick for the defensive coordinator position. However, the Falcons ultimately chose Morris over Belichick due to internal concerns about organizational structure.
The Rams appointed Chris Shula as their defensive coordinator instead, while Belichick remains focused on surpassing Shula’s grandfather, Don Shula, on the all-time wins list.
Reports from ESPN and CBS Sports indicate that Belichick’s media projects will serve as preparation for potential head coaching interviews in 2025. He has disclosed to close associates that he anticipates being considered for at least one head coaching position next year.
Should Belichick have the opportunity to return as a head coach, he will be selective in choosing the right fit. At 72 years old, he will carefully consider his options, with the Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants being rumored as potential destinations due to their strong rosters and competitive status.
Apart from coaching aspirations, Belichick will make regular appearances on shows like ManningCast, The Pat McAfee Show, and Inside the NFL. He will also host a football show on YouTube TV and serve as a strategic adviser for the 33rd Team, a football analysis company.
In addition to staying informed about the league and players, Belichick’s media ventures will showcase a different side of his personality, potentially appealing to team owners and executives considering him for coaching positions. If coaching does not materialize, Belichick will have established a solid foundation for a media career while remaining connected to the world of football for the foreseeable future.
