The Rams were one of several teams that needed to revamp their coaching staff this offseason. However, the changes were not due to firing anyone but rather coaches moving on to bigger opportunities. Head coach Sean McVay is once again assembling a new staff that is expected to excel under his guidance.
On the offensive side, the Rams have made notable hires including quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone, senior offensive assistant Jerry Schuplinski, and offensive assistant and pass game specialist Nate Scheelhaase. The position of pass game coordinator previously held by Zac Robinson has now been given to tight ends coach Nick Caley. Additionally, former Jets quarterbacks coach Rob Calabrese joins as a new offensive assistant.
Defensively, there have been significant changes due to the departure of former coordinator Raheem Morris. Giff Smith has replaced Eric Henderson as defensive line coach and run game coordinator, and Sean Desai has been hired as a senior defensive assistant. The Rams have also brought on Greg Williams as the inside linebackers coach.
Additional updates on the defensive staff include former Packers pass-game coordinator Greg Williams being hired as inside linebackers coach, and Chris Beake transitioning to safeties coach. Joe Coniglio, Aubrey Pleasant, and Mike Harris have all been retained in their roles as well.
Finally, the special teams unit sees the addition of Chili Davis as assistant special teams coach and John Streicher as game management coordinator.
With these changes, the Rams coaching staff for 2024 is set, and McVay looks to guide his team back to success after a challenging season in 2021.
