The
2024 Super Bowl
isn’t too far off, which means it’s time for a fresh crop of trailers for some of the year’s biggest movies. Last year’s big game brought us fresh looks at the latest
Marvel films
, a new
Pixar movie
and the fourth
John Wick adventure
.
What could this year’s
Super Bowl
bring us when it comes to movie trailers? While we’re sure movies like
Bob Marley: One Love
and
Madame Web
will have televised presences since they come out in theaters the same week of the Super Bowl, we’re wondering what other big releases we’ll get a look at. Let’s take a peek at 15 movies that could air trailers during this year’s big game, including the latest flick from the wise-cracking antihero
Deadpool
. We’re betting that
Warner Bros.
tries to get a spot in for the hotly anticipated
Dune: Part Two
, which is headed for theaters on March 1. With tickets already on sale, it’ll give the studio another chance to plug the movie as it has available seats for opening weekend showtimes. Long live the fighters! With a March 8 release date,
Kung Fu Panda 4
should pop up during the
Super Bowl commercials
this year since there will be a heavy family audience tuning in for the big game.
Universal Studios
has advertised during plenty of Super Bowls in the past, and this will be one of its biggest titles on the spring calendar. AP Photo/David Becker
Amazon Prime Video/MGM
advertised during last year’s
big game
, and we’d expect them to at least advertise one of its big spring releases. March’s
Road House
remake starring
Jake Gyllenhaal
will hit the streaming service on March 21, and it’s got the rowdy action that typically lends itself to a Super Bowl ad. Plus, this one ties in
UFC
to its plot, which fits nicely to advertising during the biggest sporting event of the year.
Columbia Pictures
advertised during last year’s big game for sci-fi dinosaur adventure
65
, and we could see them pushing another major March title in
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
. The sequel to 2021’s
Ghostbusters: Afterlife
should get a fresh trailer ahead of a major advertising push before its March 22 release. After a 17-year hiatus,
Warner Bros.
returned to advertising during the
Super Bowl
last year for a special look at
The Flash
. It’s definitely possible the studio returns to advertise for this year’s big game, and a fresh look at the monster battles ahead in
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
makes sense. The film is set for a March 29 release. We’re betting
Universal
tries to get its latest look at its action comedy
The Fall Guy
in during this year’s
Super Bowl
. The
Ryan Gosling/Emily Blunt
feature feels prime for a big game ad, as it’s got the explosives and jokes that usually cut together for a nice
Super Bowl
teaser to help build interest. The film hits theaters on May 3.
Disney
never shies away from promoting its biggest releases during the
Super Bowl
. With
20th Century Studios
now under the
Mouse House
banner, we’re expecting a fresh tease for
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
this year. The latest Apes film swings into theaters on May 10, which means a new trailer is assuredly on its way.
John Krasinski’s
original fantasy film
IF
is set for a release, and it could absolutely benefit from a
Super Bowl
ad.
Paramount
has been a regular advertiser during the
Super Bowl
, and
CBS
is broadcasting this year’s game. Expect the studio to take advantage of the big game playing on its sister network with fresh looks at films like
IF
. Maybe
Warner Bros.
will advertise more than one of its upcoming releases. If so, then
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
makes a lot of sense to get a big game ad. The latest Mad Max film from auteur
George Miller
will have plenty of thrilling theatrics to advertise for a
Super Bowl
audience. It’s a pretty safe bet that
Disney
will try to get a
Super Bowl
ad in for
Inside Out 2
, which hits theaters on and only has a teaser trailer out so far. It’s one of the big summer releases, and Disney has advertised Pixar films during the Super Bowl in the past, like this 2019 ad for
Toy Story 4
. Jonny Cournoyer/Paramount Pictures via AP Again, expect a handful of
Paramount
advertisements during this year’s
Super Bowl game
, including a possible first look at this summer’s
A Quiet Place: Day One
. The prequel film starring
Lupita Nyong’o
and
Joseph Quinn
hasn’t released any trailers yet, which would make the
Super Bowl
a prime destination to launch its advertising campaign. The horror film quietly creeps into theaters on . We’re not sure how many films (if any at all) that
Warner Bros.
will try to advertise during this year’s
Super Bowl
. However,
Kevin Costner’s
two-part Western epic
Horizon: An American Saga
would certainly benefit from a push during the big game. This one would get two films into one advertisement, as the first part of the series comes out on and the second part comes out on .
Universal Pictures
and
Illumination Entertainment
Universal
could choose to share a first look at
Despicable Me 4
during this year’s
Super Bowl
, which hits theaters on . Destined to be one of the biggest films of the year, it’s the first adventure for adult Gru and the Minions since 2017’s
Despicable Me 3
. Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images
Universal
might not have all of these films advertised during the
big game
, but we sure hope we get a first look at
Twisters
, a sequel to the 1990s blockbuster from
Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chong
set for .
Glen Powell
,
Daisy Edgar-Jones
,
Anthony Ramos
,
Brandon Perea
and
Sasha Lane
lead the cast for this stormy sequel, which could debut a first look during this year’s
Super Bowl
(like
Jordan Peele’s Nope
did in 2022, another July release from
Universal
).
Marvel Disney
has advertised
Marvel Studios
films in the past during the
Super Bowl
, and
Deadpool 3
is fascinatingly the only Marvel film coming from the studio this year. We’re expecting a first look during the big game at the third
Deadpool
film, which sees the return of
Hugh Jackman
as
Wolverine
. This one hits on . If
Netflix
jumps in the game,
Adam Sandler’s
space drama
Spaceman
() and the action film
Damsel
starring
Millie Bobby Brown
() could get
Super Bowl
spots.
Lionsgate
has the
John Wick
spinoff film
Ballerina
coming on . Could we get a first trailer on game day?
Columbia
could push
Bad Boys 4
() during the big game, even if a more immediate release like
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
would make more sense if the studio only pays for one spot. Ditto
Columbia’s The Garfield Movie
(), which we’re guessing would involve
Garfield
eating a lasagna while watching the
Super Bowl
.
