Picking NFL Week 14 Survivor Pool Teams: Texans and Dolphins Analysis

When it rains it pours, man. And right now I’m dealing with a monsoon — unless we want to call my losing streak a drought, then it’s not a drop of water to be found. Like 30 percent of Circa Sports survivor pool contestants, I fell victim to the Jacksonville Jaguars being upset by the Cincinnati Bengals and backup quarterback Jake Browning in Week 13. I’m not discouraged, though. I look at this week’s schedule and see a winner in my future. Before we get to Week 14, here’s a look at where things stand:

Record: 10-3

Already used: Ravens, Bills, Chiefs, 49ers, Dolphins, Rams, Seahawks, Chargers, Saints, Cowboys, Commanders (L), Lions (L), Jaguars (L)

The 49ers are a good bet to beat the Seahawks, thought I wouldn’t be so fast to assume they’ll blow out a prideful division foe fighting for its playoff life. Especially not after coming off an emotional win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

I actually feel really good about the Ravens, who are hosting this game out of a bye week. They’re only lower on this list because of how well the Rams’ offense is playing lately, but I expect Baltimore to win.

3 Detroit Lions (at Chicago Bears) AP Photo/Duane Burleson

Chicago very nearly beat the Lions a few weeks ago, but that’s exactly why I like Detroit even more this time around. If there was any inclination to take their division rival lightly, that was removed when the Lions had to climb out of a 26-14 hole to win the first game.

2 Miami Dolphins (vs. Tennessee Titans) Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

The Dolphins have the most lopsided matchup of the week at home against the Titans, and they get it at a time they’re absolutely rolling. Miami beats up on bad teams, and this is another bad team for the Fins to feast on.

Just accept it, the 7-5 Texans are good, and they’re going to take another step towards making the playoffs with a win over the Jets this week. New York is in shambles, the quarterback position is in flux, and this is a game a team like Houston should win handily.
