**10 reasons the Eagles will be a dumpster fire this season – PhillyVoice**

It was Week 17 and they looked like a team playing their first preseason game. Defensively, the results were even worse, especially after Nick Sirianni made the asinine decision to demote defensive coordinator Sean Desai in favor of Matt Patricia, as players often didn’t know how to line up or what their assignments were. Opposing offenses bulldozed them in the run game, and easily found ways to get receivers running wide open through the secondary.

(Side note: Some aren’t convinced that Sirianni made the decision to bench Desai for Patricia, but even if that’s the case, that’s even worse.) In the aftermath of the season, a number of players, notably Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox, expressed strong support for Sirianni. However, when given the opportunity to have Sirianni’s back during his postgame press conference following the loss to the Bucs, Hurts pretended like he didn’t understand why Sirianni’s job status was a question, saying, “I didn’t know that he was going anywhere.” When pressed for a real answer, Hurts said, “I have a ton of confidence in everyone in the building.” When given another chance to endorse his head coach during locker room cleanout day, Hurts said that he has confidence in Sirianni and that he expected Sirianni to be back, but he did not exactly give a ringing endorsement, like some of his other teammates did.

Hurts doesn’t exactly have a warm personality, but maybe he could have mustered up a little more enthusiasm for his embattled coach if he truly wanted to continue working with him? The Eagles have new coordinators in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio. Are they better than Brian Johnson and Sean Desai / Matt Patricia? Sure, but it’ll be interesting to see how Sirianni meshes ideas with Moore, and how Sirianni’s relationship with his quarterback progresses. Even if he is now more of a “CEO” head coach, he has major challenges ahead, and is squarely on the hot seat.

**5 NFL coaches who deserve to be on the hot seat before the 2024 season even starts – SB Nation**

Mike McCarthy. I think I speak for most NFL fans when I say that we were shocked when Mike McCarthy wasn’t fired after the Dallas Cowboys’ most recent playoff defeat. He’s back for 2024, coming off the loss of another key coordinator in Dan Quinn and a thoroughly disappointing offseason marred by a failure to take action on quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract. To put it simply, the Cowboys have been suspiciously lax in addressing veteran departures and the multiple holes on the roster. While I think the draft class has the potential to be good, it’s a tough assignment for any rookie offensive lineman to come in and play right away. Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe could be thrust into the spotlight immediately to plug holes, and I’m not sure that will produce great results — at least, not right away. The receiving corps is incredibly thin after CeeDee Lamb, and the lack of urgency to address running back led to an uninspiring reunion with late-career Ezekiel Elliott.

I’m not sure any of these things are explicitly McCarthy’s fault, but we all know who will get the blame if Dallas regresses in 2024. Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat despite holding a Cowboys coaching record – Blogging The Boys

There’s no question that Mike McCarthy is coaching for his job with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. Set to enter the season with an expiring contract, McCarthy’s on unusually shaky ground for the coach with the best win-loss record in franchise history. That’s right; not Tom Landry or Jimmy Johnson. Not even Barry Switzer, who swooped in and scooped up wins off of Johnson’s foundation. It’s McCarthy, who after three consecutive 12-5 regular seasons is 42-25 with a .627 winning percentage. He narrowly edges Swizter’s 40-24 record (.625%) from his four-year run with Dallas in the mid-90s. What’s even more impressive is that McCarthy’s record suffers from that 6-10 start in 2020. If not for trying to start his Dallas run during the COVID-19 pandemic and losing QB Dak Prescott for 11 games to a leg injury, McCarthy would probably have several more wins and a wider margin between Switzer and the rest of the field.

**Eagles Rookie Profile: 6 things to know about Kendall Milton – BGN**

5) How do you see his NFL career playing out? I would expect Milton to be a compelling option in short yardage as a rookie and to also be a contributor on special teams (Kirby Smart is maniacal about his starters playing in the kicking game, and Milton was actually in the kickoff return lineup during his time in Athens). Assuming he can stay healthy and round out his game by developing as a pass catcher, he’ll be a solid option for a team that wants a big, fall-forward tailback who can pick up tough yards.

**Mekhi Becton seeks Eagles resurgence after shaky Jets chapter – ESPN**

“He’s probably had one of the best offseasons here,” said Johnson. “He’s played some guard at times and has done really well. Just a big, strong, powerful dude. I think he’s going to help us a lot this year whether he plays tackle or guard. But a guy that big that can move that well, we definitely need him out there.” That combination of size and skill is what made Becton a highly touted first-round pick out of Louisville. He had a solid rookie year at left tackle for the Jets, yielding 4.5 sacks in 14 games, per NextGen Stats.

But he missed 33 out of 34 games in 2021 and 2022 because of two surgeries on his right knee. He blamed the coaches when he reinjured himself during training camp in ‘22, saying their decision to switch him to right tackle put added stress on his surgically repaired right knee — a claim that was confirmed by his personal doctor. When word began to spread during the 2023 offseason that Becton might be tried at right tackle once again, he tweeted, then deleted, “I. Am. A. Left. Tackle!” to which coach Robert Saleh responded, “Go earn the left tackle [spot].”

Wawa Mac & Cheese. It’s the best. I grew up on it. I think half of me is made of Wawa’s mac and cheese. One year for Lent, I gave it up because I was like, It’s getting a bit wrong how often I eat this.

**Can the Giants put the drama from 2023 behind them? – Big Blue View**

Over the course of the piece, Raanan drops a few interesting nuggets. Perhaps the biggest for 2024 is on the offense, and in particular, who will be calling the plays. Raanan notes that offensive coordinator, and new assistant head coach, Mike Kafka has seemingly lost his play calling duties despite his promotion. We also gain some insight into just how wide-spread tensions grew during the Daboll – Martindale schism. At the time, the story we were presented featured Wink Martindale building a private fiefdom on the defense and attempting to undermine Daboll as head coach. However Raanan hints that even coaches on the offense or special teams were uncomfortable with the situation behind the scenes. Raanan quotes one coach who said that Daboll’s mid-game outbursts kept the rest of the coaching staff from doing their jobs. He reports multiple sources as saying that the staff on both sides of the ball grew weary of Daboll’s outbursts and finger-pointing, with one saying that it didn’t feel as though they were all on the same team.

**The 5 O’Clock Club: The free agent CB from the Chargers signed by the Commanders to replace Kendall Fuller – Hogs Haven**

This past weekend, we looked at two free agent cornerbacks who are competing for backup spots on the Commanders roster, Noah Igbinoghene and James Pierre. Today, we’ll take a look at the other veteran free agent cornerback signed this offseason — Michael Davis — who was signed to step into the roster hole left when Kendall Fuller left to join the Dolphins.
