Before acquiring Aaron Rodgers, the Jets were already adding many of his former teammates from Green Bay. With Rodgers expected to be healthy in 2024, the team is likely to target more of his preferred players.
However, one player that may be out of reach is Davante Adams. According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda.com, a move to the Jets for Adams is highly unlikely. The Raiders are not interested in trading their star wide receiver as they value his leadership and want him to be part of their winning culture under new head coach Antonio Pierce.
Furthermore, the Jets would not meet the Raiders’ asking price for Adams. Pauline believes the Raiders would demand New York’s 2024 and 2025 first-round draft picks for Adams. Even offering a first-round pick and a third-round pick, especially if the first was the No. 10 pick, would not likely be accepted by the Raiders.
Adams played alongside Derek Carr in Las Vegas after leaving the Packers, where he had a strong season in 2022. However, the Raiders moved on from Carr, leading to inconsistency at QB and a decline in Adams’ numbers. With uncertainty surrounding their QB situation, Rodgers had been rumored to recruit Adams to New York, but it seems Adams will remain with the Raiders for now.
Other news out of New York…
- The Jets have weaknesses in their offensive line, and ESPN’s Rich Cimini predicts the team will target two new offensive tackles and a guard. They may look to acquire an OL in free agency or through the draft, considering options like Penn State’s Olumuyiwa Fashanu or Oregon State’s Taliese Fuaga.
- Following a disappointing 2023 season, reports of inner turmoil within the organization surfaced, with some pointing fingers at assistant GM Rex Hogan for leaks. The Jets and Hogan mutually agreed to part ways after the season.
- There have been reports that former first-round pick Zach Wilson is evaluating trade options as the Jets are likely to move on from him. The organization is reportedly allowing Wilson some input in choosing his next destination.
