Commanders
Assistant LB coach and former long-time Washington DE Ryan Kerrigan expressed his admiration for new Commanders HC Dan Quinn and shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming season.
“I’m very excited,” Kerrigan said, as reported by Scott Abraham. “Coach Quinn has brought a really good jolt of energy to the program, and I’m excited to get going with it.” “Coach Whitt has been very energetic in our meetings,” he continued. “Same with Coach Quinn, so we’re excited to get going and get the ball rolling.”
Eagles
- Amidst rumors of potentially wanting out, Eagles WR A.J. Brown called into the SportsRadio 94WIP’s show and confirmed he wants to stay in Philadelphia. Brown addressed some sideline “flare-ups” and clarified that they were about accountability, not about a target issue.
- According to Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice, Eagles CB Darius Slay is expected to stay in 2024 due to his contract being prohibitive for any changes. Slay performed at a high level in 2023.
- On the other hand, Eagles CB James Bradberry struggled, leading Kempski to believe he might become a June 1 cut, despite the dead money hit.
- Kempski mentioned that the Eagles value slot CB Avonte Maddox, indicating they may negotiate a reduced salary for him instead of cutting ties, considering his injury history.
Giants
- FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano stated that GM Joe Schoen remains firm in his belief that investing heavily in a running back is not wise, especially after the 2023 season.
- Vacchiano reported that the Giants are not likely to franchise tag RB Saquon Barkley or increase the previous contract offer, potentially leading to Barkley’s departure.
- Despite some doubts, key members of the Giants still support QB Daniel Jones as the future quarterback, although they will explore other options considering the No. 6 overall pick and Jones’ injury history.
- Vacchiano suggested the Giants might draft a quarterback in the second round to serve as a backup and understudy to Jones for a year or two.
- While the Giants want S Xavier McKinney back, Schoen is cautious about overspending at that position, indicating they are unlikely to use the franchise tag on McKinney.
