For the all the talk of the betting opportunities presented by the pop culture crossover between the NFL and Taylor Swift, U.S. sportsbooks aren’t actually offering all that many prop bets involving the Blank Space singer. The reason is because it’s tough for the regulated betting industry to offer the same type of quirky bets unregulated bookies can get away with.
Instead, online sportsbooks have to get more creative to capitalize on the Swift momentum, and that’s what Tipico Sportsbook tried to do with its latest specials. Instead of offering bets directly related to Swift, Tipico simply named bets on other Super Bowl-related things after Swift’s songs and lyrics. They’re called the “Swift Specials.”
The “Look What You Made Us Do” prop is a bet on the San Francisco 49ers to score first and the Kansas City Chiefs to score in every quarter. For +180 odds, you can bet on the “Taylor’s Version” prop, which is for Kelce to record five-plus receptions and 50-plus receiving yards and the Chiefs to win. The “Anti-Hero” bet of course involves Brock Purdy winning MVP and the 49ers winning.
Here’s a look at some of the other “Swift Specials.”
“The game-watching experience has become more immersive than ever before, and we expect this to culminate in a record-breaking day for the industry on Super Bowl Sunday as bettors will have had two full weeks to prepare and get even more creative with their pre-match and live bets,” Tipico SVP and head of marketing Brian Becker said. “The goal for sportsbooks, including Tipico, will be to harness that creativity with more betting markets and promotions that capitalize on the game’s biggest storylines.”
Other Swift-related props we’ve seen across the industry include bets at FanDuel in Ontario, Canada, on whether Travis Kelce will propose to Swift on the field after the game. And Station Casinos in Las Vegas has a prop on whether Kelce will have more receptions than Swift has platinum albums.
