The Chargers are actively seeking a new general manager and recently completed an interview with Ravens director of player personnel Joe Hortiz.
Hortiz has had a successful career in Baltimore, starting in the scouting department and working his way up to director of college scouting and, more recently, overseeing both pro and college scouting. He has also been a candidate for general manager positions in the past.
Another candidate for the Chargers’ general manager position is colleague Nick Matteo, who has received an interview request from the Panthers. The potential loss of both Hortiz and Matteo would be a blow to the Ravens’ front office.
The Chargers have been without a general manager since the dismissal of Tom Telesco alongside Brandon Staley. The team’s coaching search and the presence of quarterback Justin Herbert on a long-term deal make the Los Angeles GM position an attractive one, but there is also a need for substantial roster changes.
