Joe Brady will continue in his current position, as the Bills considered outside options but ultimately decided to make their interim OC the full-time play-caller, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports. This will be Brady’s second stint as a full-time NFL OC, and the Bills have announced the decision.
Brady’s connection to the Panthers is more coincidental compared to other Carolina imports in Buffalo, as he came after the current management had arrived. Despite this, Brady has taken on a high-profile job as the Bills’ OC.
During his time as OC, the Bills only lost twice, but there was not a significant production spike. However, they did better incorporateJames Cook into the offense and grow comfortable under Brady. The team finished sixth in scoring and fourth in total offense during its Dorsey-Brady season.
Brady’s success in this role will largely depend on Josh Allen‘s performance, as he emerged as one of the best players in the NFL. Allen vouched for Brady and showed improved performance under his leadership, particularly in the run game. Moving forward, Brady will need to strike a balance between Allen’s rushing abilities and the team’s overall offensive strategy.
The Bills will also need to recapture the Allen-Diggs connection and see more from their star receiver in the upcoming season.
More to come.
