This season was supposed to be different for the New York Jets. This was supposed to be the year they finally ended their playoff drought and made a real push for Super Bowl. Instead, it’s going to end in a familiar place.
With Sunday’s 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Jets are officially eliminated from playoff contention. The loss dropped them to 5-9 and secured their 13th straight season of missing the playoffs, which stands as the longest drought across the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.
The Jets now have gone 13 straight seasons without making the playoffs, the longest active drought across the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB.

It’s a crash landing for the Jets, who were soaring in the preseason after the signing of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Their Super Bowl odds were among the best in the NFL, and bettors pounced on them.
On Sept. 19, they were the second-biggest title liability at BetMGM, according to John Ewing. At -130 odds, they were the second-most bet team to simply make the playoffs at DraftKings.

The public wasn’t sold on the Jets at every sportsbook, though. Even before the Achilles injury that sidelined Rodgers and thrust Zach Wilson back into the starting lineup, they Jets were the most bet team to miss the playoffs at BetMGM.

Regardless of the circumstances for how the Jets arrived here, those bettors nailed it.
