Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts achieved a new career-high during Monday evening’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, scoring his second rushing touchdown and tying an NFL single-season record in the process.
Hurts has now amassed 14 rushing touchdowns in the current season, surpassing his previous career-high of 13 that he set last year. In addition, he has tied the NFL single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, matching the mark set by Cam Newton during his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers in 2011.

Although the Eagles clinched a playoff berth on Sunday, they are aiming to recover from consecutive losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, suffering a pair of defeats in which they lost with a combined score of 75-32.
After those losses, the Eagles have made some significant coaching changes. While Sean Desai retains the title of defensive coordinator, senior defensive assistant Matt Patricia will be on the sideline calling plays for a defense that has been struggling beginning Monday. Patricia, a long-time assistant for Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots, and former head coach of the Detroit Lions, is expected to bring experience and expertise to improve the Eagles’ defensive performance.
Nevertheless, the Eagles entered Monday evening’s game with a 10-3 record. With the Cowboys suffering a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Eagles are in a strong position to win their second consecutive NFC East title. Additionally, they are still in the race for the top seed in the NFC, which would grant them a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, although they will need the 11-3 49ers to slip up.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are in a difficult position as they enter Monday’s game, having lost four games in a row. A month ago, coach Pete Carroll’s squad was 6-3, and had a promising shot at challenging the 49ers for the NFC West title. However, following the recent losing streak, Seattle now finds themselves outside of the playoff picture. A fifth consecutive loss would likely seal their fate for the season.
