Commanders

The Commanders signed QB Marcus Mariota in free agency to provide veteran leadership for first-round QB Jayden Daniels. Mariota praised Daniels’ performance in practice and expressed his willingness to contribute in any way needed.

“He looks good,” Mariota said, via the team’s YouTube channel. “I think he moves well and throws the ball effectively. It’s crucial for a young player to take command of the offense, and Jayden seems to understand that.”

“I have a passion for the game and enjoy being part of it. Regardless of my role, I come to work with a smile,” Mariota added.

Cowboys

New Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is using the early days of the offseason program to familiarize himself with the players.

“Being out here during the early stages of the offseason program has been enjoyable as I’ve been able to connect with the players and educate them not only on their positions but also on the overall strategy,” Zimmer shared. “That’s been the most rewarding part for me.”

Cowboys assistant DL coach Greg Ellis, who played for Zimmer in 2000, praised Zimmer as a skilled mentor.

“Having played under him, I have immense respect for his coaching abilities. He taught me a great deal about the game. Now, working alongside him, I’m experiencing a different perspective,” Ellis remarked.

Ellis emphasized Zimmer’s emphasis on accountability among coaches.

“Zimmer expects accountability from his coaches. I’ve learned that once you commit to something with him, he will hold you to it,” Ellis explained.

Eagles

Eagles DT Jalen Carter aims to enter his second season in better physical condition, especially with the absence of retired DT Fletcher Cox in 2024.

“My focus is more on improving my conditioning rather than technique, as we have ample time throughout the year to work on skills,” Carter stated. “We practice technique daily, focusing on hand movements, pass rushes, and other aspects. Conditioning, however, is often overlooked. I prioritized conditioning over technical drills.”

“My rookie season was decent but not how I envisioned it. There are areas I need to address based on film analysis. I’m ready to elevate my performance this year,” Carter added.
