Isaiahh Loudermilk has had an up-and-down journey with the Pittsburgh Steelers since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. His role on the team has been inconsistent, and with the defensive lineman falling further down the depth chart this offseason, his future with the team is uncertain. According to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic, training camp could be a make-or-break time for Loudermilk, with suggestions that he may not make it to Week 1 with the Steelers.
During his time at Wisconsin, Loudermilk had a successful college career, but that success has not translated to the NFL. He has only started five out of 42 regular-season games and has seen a decrease in his defensive snap percentages each year since his rookie season.
In his four years in the league, Loudermilk has accumulated 46 tackles and one sack. Despite showing promise on special teams, especially in the 2023 season, his future with the team is uncertain. With key players like Cameron Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi solidifying their positions on the defensive line, Loudermilk’s spot on the roster is in jeopardy. The organization has also added younger players to the unit, potentially further limiting his chances of staying with the team.
On another note, linebacker Cole Holcomb may start the 2024 season on the physically unable to perform list due to a serious knee injury. The team could opt to give him additional time to recover by sitting him out for the first four games of the season.
