The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Monday Night Football wild card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Eagles were originally set to hold a walkthrough but the team pivoted to a padded practice.
Three players were listed under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: A.J. Brown, Reed Blankenship, and Sydney Brown.
Reporting after the Eagles’ Week 18 game indicated that Brown should be able to play against the Bucs. But the fact that he wasn’t able to practice isn’t ideal. The Eagles are probably managing his workload to help get him to Monday.
Blankenship left Week 18 with a groin injury on the play where he intercepted Tyrod Taylor’s tipped pass. Not good if he’s unable to play. Especially since Sydney Brown (who has not yet been placed on injured reserve) is also out for the season due to a torn ACL. Kevin Byard is currently the only healthy safety on the active roster. The Eagles also have Tristin McCollum on the practice squad. They’ll likely either temporarily elevate McCollum for this week’s game or sign him to the roster with the spot they’ll free up by placing Brown on IR. They could also look to temporarily elevate practice squad cornerback Mekhi Garner, whom they used at safety in emergency situations earlier this season.
Two players were listed under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Jalen Hurts and Britain Covey.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Hurts said it wasn’t a good idea to return to the Eagles’ Week 18 game after injuring his finger. Hurts also said he hasn’t thrown a football since Sunday. That isn’t the biggest deal since the Eagles didn’t have their first Bucs prep practice until today … but Hurts was not seen throwing during the media-attended portion of Thursday’s session. Hard to imagine Hurts is going to be operating at 100% for Monday’s game?
Covey got banged up in Week 18. If the Eagles don’t have their punt returner available (or he’s hampered), well, that’s a big hit to a special teams unit that’s been a strength this year.
Three players were listed under FULL PARTICIPATION: DeVonta Smith, D’Andre Swift, and Darius Slay.
Smith and Swift probably could’ve played in Week 18 but the Eagles played it safe with them. They’ll be back in action against the Bucs. Good news for Philly.
Slay is also set to return after missing the last four games. He could provide a boost to the defense.
Darius Slay says it might be good the Eagles are hitting the road for the playoffs after losing 5 of 6

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS INJURY REPORT (THURSDAY)
The Bucs held a walkthrough on Thursday in lieu of a normal practice so their injury report is an estimation.
Baker Mayfield was notably listed under DNP. The Bucs’ starting quarterback had the same designation on the first day of practice leading up to Week 18 before being upgraded to limited and then full. So, it’s possible he’ll follow the same path this week. But the ankle injury is something new he picked up on Sunday whereas he was previously dealing with the ribs issue. Both starting quarterbacks could be hampered in this game.
Starting left tackle Tristan Wirfs was listed under DNP due to illness. I’m sure he’ll be able to play on Monday night.
Linebacker K.J. Britt was listed under DNP. He ranks second on the Bucs in special teams this season with seven. That’s only behind Josh Hayes, who was listed as limited. Bucs ST unit could be missing some key contributors.
