Buccaneers
Bucs WR Chris Godwin is thrilled to be back playing in the slot as he enters a contract year, aiming to showcase his best performance.
“I think over the past few years, I’ve really found comfort in that position,” Godwin stated, as reported by Rick Stroud of Tampa Bay Times. “I believe my versatility both inside and outside allows me to be more creative, more involved in the run game, and not just predictable in catching passes. It gives me the opportunity to contribute in various ways.”
After recovering from a knee injury in 2021 where he tore three ligaments, Godwin is starting to feel like his old self again.
“Quietly, I’ve managed to hit 1,000 yards for three consecutive years, even counting the year I got injured. It’s not an easy feat,” he expressed. “I take pride in my professionalism, battling through adversity. I’m grateful for the belief my coaches and teammates have in me to make plays. I feel fortunate and blessed to be here.”
Bucs HC Todd Bowles agrees that Godwin excels in the slot position.
“Naturally, he is an inside player,” Bowles commented. “While he can play outside, he really shines inside, contributing in various ways that play to his strengths. He appears quicker, lighter, and healthier now. His eagerness to learn the offense is commendable, and we’re eager to see him on the field.”
Approaching a contract year with Tampa Bay, Godwin hopes to continue with the organization.
“People have learned about me and Mike that we are consummate professionals,” Godwin affirmed. “We come in, do our job, and understand that off-field matters are part of the business too. We trust that everything will fall into place. We love what we do and the people we work with. I feel blessed to be here putting in the work.”
Falcons
Falcons HC Raheem Morris reaffirmed that the team sees TE Kyle Pitts as a vital long-term asset.
“We are excited that he is healthy, and we believe in him a lot,” Morris shared, as per Around The NFL. “Having a healthy Kyle Pitts adds dynamism to our team. Hence, we picked up his option, enabling him to be a part of both our immediate and future plans.”
Morris expressed his desire to maximize Pitts’ potential and emphasized the coaching staff’s responsibility in achieving that.
“If we can unlock his true potential, we all know what he is capable of,” Morris reasoned. “It is the job of a coach to discover a player’s capabilities and bring out the best in them. Hopefully, myself, my staff, and all our coaches can unleash the full potential of Kyle Pitts, benefiting all of us in the process.”
Saints
Saints HC Dennis Allen disclosed that he had a constructive conversation with CB Marshon Lattimore regarding trade speculation, and they are moving forward together.
“I felt it was important for us to have a clear conversation,” Allen mentioned, through PFT. “There has been a lot of external chatter about trades, so I felt it was necessary for him and me to discuss it. It was a positive conversation, and we look forward to working together when he’s back on the field.”
