Wideout Brandon Aiyuk has become a key part of the 49ers’ skill-position group in the last two years. He will stay with the team for at least one more season, with the possibility of a long-term agreement on the horizon.

San Francisco made the decision to pick up Aiyuk’s fifth-year option last year, locking in a 2024 salary of $14.12MM. The team is now interested in extending his contract; Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the 49ers are making it a priority for this offseason (video link).
Drafted 25th overall in 2020, Aiyuk came into the league with high expectations and has steadily increased his production. He is now a prime candidate for a multi-year contract, which will impact the team’s expenses on offense.
Fellow wideout Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey are all signed through the 2025 season, along with the remaining years on quarterback Brock Purdy‘s rookie contract. The team will need to manage increasing cap hits on Nick Bosa‘s contract in the coming years. A long-term deal for Aiyuk would impact the team’s available funds and limit resources for other positions.
However, Aiyuk has proven himself as one of the top emerging receivers in the league and is in line to benefit from the surging market for his position. Talks with the 49ers this spring could see him join the group of receivers earning at least $20MM per year on their current deals.
