The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 15 Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Eagles normally hold a walkthrough on their first practice day of a given game week taking place later in the season. But Nick Sirianni decided to have the team put pads on for Thursday’s session.

Q: Seems like the practice schedule is different today than normal, why the change?

NICK SIRIANNI: Again, you can easily change schedules to get what you need. We’re not locked into any schedule. Everything is fluid in attempts of getting better. I feel like here this is a chance for us to get better in the sense of we need to go out there and work on our fundamentals.

We’re late in the year. Sometimes late in the year you don’t have this opportunity because you’ve got to balance them being rested, got to balance them playing fresh, while also being ready physically and mentally.

So, this one we have an extra day. We have a little extra time and a little extra rest from the last game. That’s why we’re going out there today and having a practice, whereas in later parts of December we haven’t typically had that here in my past two years.

We felt like we wanted to get out there today to work some fundamental things. Does that mean that’s going to happen next week? No. Every week is a little bit different. Every week allows you to do different things. We feel as a football team we needed to do that this week.

On one hand, the Eagles badly need rest. On the other hand, it might be worth tweaking the practice schedule after two straight losses.

Three players were listed under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Darius Slay, Zach Cunningham, and Cam Jurgens.

Slay is dealing with a knee injury that had him listed under DNP two days last week. Of course, he also had a “rest” designation listed next to the knee issue that is no longer there. So, perhaps things have worsened for him? It could still be that the Eagles are managing his practice workload to help get him to Monday. We’ll find out more over the next couple days.

Cunningham previously missed a game due to a hamstring injury and now he’s listed with a knee issue. If he can’t play, the Eagles will be down to just Nicholas Morrow, Shaq Leonard, and Ben VanSumeren at off-ball linebacker.

Jurgens got banged up in Week 14 but returned to the game. He’s dealing with a pectoral injury. We’ll see if he’s able to practice at all before Monday.

One player was limited under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Reed Blankenship.

Blankenship suffered a concussion in the Cowboys game. His limited status at this stage indicates he has a chance to be cleared to play in Seattle.

DeVonta Smith and Haason Reddick were notably not in pads at the beginning of practice but, as it turns out, they still did their normal weekly routines and were not required to be listed on the injury report.
